Defcon PC Game Style Mods - Algea Invasion

1.)
This Style Mod is called Algea Invasion.

In the Defcon game options menu you can change the water in different ways one is using the 3 default menu options ways the other is changing the menu color options, which then modifies the styles text document or you can actually save that text document and move it into other mods to change the water plus use the menu 3 ways to turn on or off water or shade it.  The first picture below has Disabled Water, the second has Normal Water, and the third has Shaded Water.  All using this same Style Mod.  There is a video of all of the available style mods [from the way back machine linked below] on this YouTube channel [ link ] to video.  Here is another mod video with diverse mods showcased. This Style Mod is a text file not pictures.  You can copy the actual mods text below it is formatted, and spaced correctly, if it wasn't it will crash the game when you activate it.  Remember to save it as .txt and be sure it is spaced out like in the last picture and below at the bottom.  Or simply click the link below to get all style mods individually or as a single .zip file.  See the link below. 

2.)
HOW TO: Put a Style Mod into the Defcon Mod Folder,
Put one of these text files in the mods folder in a folder titled "styles" with the title of the text style mod as "default".
So Defcon folder --> Mods folder --> Mod Name (Example: Style-Algea Invasion) folder --> Data folder --> Styles folder with the style mod titled "default" inside (title it "default" not Algea Invasion).  It is exactly like any other Mod except instead of the last folder being "Graphics" it is a "Styles" folder.  How to save it as a .txt file you ask.  Open "Notepad" on all Windows computers and select save as.  You can also open "Wordpad" but don't on Windows 10 which is a more advanced word processor app like the Word app itself but free without any subscription and built into Windows computers.  Alternatively you can download "Notepad ++ and or Notepad Plus Plus" which is a small free coding app that includes coding languages and formatting abilities with some advanced options.  No signup just download and use it.

3.)
HERE IS THE LINK TO A WEBSITE CALLED WEB.ARCHIVE.  You can download all the styles AS A .ZIP FILE notice it at the TOP OF THE LIST right where it says "Styles" right under that is "styles.zip" and then the list of all of them and pictures you can download, copy paste into a document yourself.  Do yourself a favor and watch the video above then delete the bright styles as they are too bright and useless waste of space on your computer to have [ link ] to video again.

There are a handful of other mods on this site but most are dead links.  With this site you have to click on the mods directly to open and not open in a new tab.  Its a confusing website just don't open in tabs.  Go down the list open each one and then copy paste each.  THEY ARE FORMATTED FOR YOU.  Also I copy pasted it below.  Here is the Web.Archive link below.

FYI:  One or 2 of these style mods isn't formatted correctly, Deeper Blue is one I fixed.  Oceanic might be the other one.  Anyway, Algea Invasion is the second on the list.

4.)
When you mod "styles" and or download these you will find some have changed the toolbar colors and menu colors.  Some are cooler looking than others.  See the modern warfare map mod for a mod with a style that changes the menu colors.  Assuming you don't like the changes I think you can go into the menu and select reset default option.  Or deactivate the mod I guess if you even can don't recall if the game just reads it or if it is in the mod menu.  Anyway, in-game open the color menu and you get a large selection of color options to tool with that makes a change as said to the style document and these are all the changes someone made doing that.  You can drop your own style document in a folder and the game will read that, this, those, these.. enjoy.

5.)  The text file should look like this, if you don't make it look like this it will crash the game 
(I know for sure these mods work).  

So just copy the text below and save it as "default" or "algea invasion" .txt.  

Blogger won't let me upload the .txt file itself but I could save it to my "Drive" as I did with other mods on this blog but haven't done yet.  I suggest you keep a duplicate copy of this mod in a folder with the title "style mod algea invasion," and then copy that into the mods folder as explained above with the title "default."  

Some of these Style mods are very bright, so don't bother yourself making endless mod folders when you can organize better with each having the correct name and then just move one copy into the folder when you play.  Copy those 3 pictures as well.  I like playing this mod with shaded water turned on.  Over time in-game the color changes slightly, like a literal sunrise and sunset occur, but it just makes the map slightly purple from blue as time goes on.  The change happens when the first attack occurs from a bomb. 

6.) HOW TO PART 2: Use NotePad

Algea Invasion Style Mod... Copy Paste into Microsoft "NotePad" it preserves the formatting, and when you go to "save as" it is already default set to save as a .txt file, which is the correct format.  Microsoft Office's Word preserves formatting but the free Microsoft WordPad does not, however if you paste into Word then copy that and paste into WordPad the formatting is preserved (why would you do that?)  Skip that just use NotePad every computer has it by default.

Here is what all of the style mods look like.  The yellow on the right is too bright, the white at the bottom and a couple others.  The kind of bright that blinds you and makes your monitor make a humming sound.  If you want a recommendation, use the bottom left blue one with shaded water.
