Defcon Game Mods V1

Defcon Game Mods V1

This is a post I am recreating here it was originally post 7/1/2018 on a different website.

Defcon Game Mods V1.
PC game you can download a demo for free from the makers website and buy it there or ebay, and also buy it on Steam.  Supports multiplayer and has a mod option in the menu to turn on off your mods.

I made a variety of Mods for the "Fighter" and "Bomber" but I didn't make any "_Blur" pictures and just use the same blurry pictures for each mod I got from another mod I downloaded from the Introversion website mod forum and included below.  The plane mod picture rides on top of the blur picture so when your in game and put your cursor over the plane you see the blur picture highlighted under the plane you are clicking on.  Its a pretty minor thing to spend time making custom blur pictures for.  I will be posting more to this blogger website.  Instructions are below.

To use mods go to Program Files (x86) - Defcon folder - create a folder called "mods" - then in that folder make a folder for each mod, so "I Ape Game Bomber" folder and "I Ape Games Fighter" folder - then in those folders is where the preview image of the mod is as a .BMP file name with the title "screenshot" - make a folder titled "data" - make a folder titled "graphics" and the mod plane picture is in this folder which is also a .BMP file. The mod pictures are 128 x 128 pixels and 24 bit depth.

You can also put many mods (specific single mods) all into a single folder, so silo, fighter, bomber, city, radar, etc.. can all be in a single folder titled "graphics" instead of having each as its own mod in its own folder.  You likely will do this once you find you favorites, copy them into a single graphics mod folder.  Otherwise to make individual mod folder read on.

So it will look like this:
"Program Files (x86)" [FOLDER] - "Defcon" [FOLDER] - "mods" [FOLDER] - the various folders of the "plane mods names" folders [FOLDERS] - "data" [FOLDER] (with or without a screenshot picture) and this folder is made for each mod as is the next folder one is inside the other not next to each other - "graphics" [FOLDER] the actual mod pictures 1 picture titled "fighter" 1 blur picture titled "fighter_blur"

If it is the bomber then 1 picture needs to be titled "bomber" and the blur picture titled "bomber_blur."  No use of parenthesis is required.  I am using them for clarity.

Program Files (x86) - Defcon - mods - various mod folders - data (screenshot) - graphics (with 1 picture titled fighter and 1 titled fighter_blur)

There are a lot of ways to mod Defcon and each is basically the same except for the required name of the picture.  I will post another blog post showing all the names for radarstation, silo, battleship, etc...  Also you can use normal pictures they don't have to be white outlines.

For example: Here is a random picture of some guys face I used as a silo mod.  The silo has 2 stages 1 in this picture is the default silo then when it launches it changes to the guys face (mod picture titled "sam" for that.)   The next picture is a bomber mod that is an outline of a guy carrying or riding a bomb.  The last 2 pictures I reused the same mod picture for the fighter and the silo.
