Game Modes and Advanced Options
Game Modes and Advanced Options for the PC, Mac, Steam game Defcon: Everybody Dies
In the Defcon game Lobby screen there are the following adjustable options. You can also select up to 5 other player slots for a total of 6 player slots. The game requires 2 to launch, meaning you and 1 AI minimum to play.
You can also make each slot a part of another team by selecting to change the slots color which puts them on say the red team or whatever color you want. So you can set 3v3 or 2v2 or even 1v5 and 2v4. Also while in game you can leave the group "Alliance" at anytime. Doing so you lose the say red team color and get assigned as a different color. This is logical if you had a 3 player team they remain the team color you leave the alliance and become a different color.

5.) Big World
6.) Tournament - - Locked to Survivor Score Mode.
7.) Custom
Score Mode:
1.) Default
2.) Survivor
3.) Genocide
Advanced Options:
1.) City Populations
The better option for gameplay is the button above this, the Cities Per Territory and Population Per Territory options, adjust up and down, also good for Big World mode.
This is a good set of 2 options to set the speed if playing with others and want the slowest requested speed to control the speed or you want to have a very long or fast session.
The Victory Trigger setting is helpful for solo play. The lower the setting like from the default of 20 to 10 will trigger the end of the game later because there needs to be about 10 nukes left. If it is set to 40 then it will trigger quickly not waiting until every sub and silo has launched.
Variable Unit Counts is helpful and is basically another mode of play. Instead of being assigned a set amount of units to place at the start you get points (I think) to spend, so you max out radar, or subs and have less silos or whatever. Is a good setting for Big World Mode so you can outfit yourself with a lot of carrier to have a lot of planes to drop bombs since often times in Big World the planes do not return due to lack of fuel range.
World Scale can make it very big or very small. When you do this and make it small you only get a limited number of units as well. (I think) not sure what options are available.
So all of these Advanced Options are reset to default every time you start a new lobby. So you are just making settings for each game if you even decide to come into Advanced Options at all.
Generally you need to set the Game Mode to Custom before some of these become adjustable much. Meaning you can set some a bit higher or lower like between 10 and 40 but only with Custom Mode can you adjust from 1-100 for example.
